My professional barbering experience extends the greater part of 10yrs. After working with ethnic males and successfully treating "Pseudofolliculitis Barbae", more commonly known as ingrown facial hairs,it is my observation that there are several phases involved in analyzing and dealing with the condition.
I suffer from this disorder as well. It has been my experience that in most cases, a simple adjustment of technique can bring about amazing results. Lets begin by answering a few questions that will help us to properly analyze the condition.

3.)What area do you see bumps in the most?

TIP
If you or your mate is a compulsive hair bump picker you could be causing more damage to the inflamed area. You must identify what hairs to extract and where.
1. Always extract the hair or hairs in the angle or direction that it is coming out of the skin.
2. Extract the hairs that surround the inflamed bump, because it may not be the hair that is coming out of the bump that's causing the problem.
3.Use the Tweezers brand product for maximum results.
Now back to the results of the analysis.
1.Most men shave on the go or as needed. If the process is rushed then the irritation normally returns days after and the bumps start all over again. You must slow the shaving process down to see results over time.
Tip
Most men use the same razor at home several days in a row. If you have the disposable income, I suggest you use a top name disposable razor. If your budget is tight, use the pink razors (Personna from Walmart) that women use for shaving their legs. If cleaned with hot water while shaving you can use it for a maximum of two days. After that you should dispose of it. Also, if you use an edger, blades must be changed every six month.
2.Whatever shaving implement you use is your choice. It is important to observe how you use the shaving implement.
a. Observe the facial hair growth pattern and shave in the direction or the angle that the hair grows.
b. Prepare your face with a steamed towel first to eliminate all oil from the skin and to soften the hairs. If you are using edgers for shaving let your face dry before you shave.
3.I've observed that normally the problem areas with the most irritation are areas that the hair pattern grows in many directions; therefore step 2 must be observed and used accordingly.
4. The products that you use are a vital part of the overall results.
